Your Bible Lesson For The Day
How Was Jesus Christ Your Savior Different From Everyone Else?
As you know, people are different from one another. People are different in appearance--some are tall, some are short; some are thin, some are heavy; and so on. People are different in temperament--some are quick tempered, some are always calm; some are emotional, some are unemotional. People have different personalities-- some are serious, some are jovial; some are unfriendly, some are friendly. No doubt you are different from other people as well. While Jesus Christ your Savior was surely different from other people in such ways also, he was far different from all other people in an even more important manner.
How was Jesus Christ your Savior different from everyone else?
Galatians 4:4 tells you, "When the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman." What does this verse tell you about your Savior Jesus Christ? It tells you that he was born of a woman just like you were. Having been born of a woman, he was a human being like you are. But what more does this verse tell you about him? It says he was the Son of God. So how was your Savior Jesus Christ different from you and from everyone else? He was a human being who was at the same time the Son of God.
Luke 2:11 tells you, "Today in the city of David a Savior was born to you, who is Christ the Lord." What does this verse tell you about your Savior Jesus Christ? It also tells you that he was born. This being true, he was a human being like you are. But what more does the verse tell you about him? It tells you that he was Christ the Lord. The term "Christ" means the "Messiah". And your Savior, the Messiah, was "the Lord". So this verse also tells you that your Savior Jesus Christ was a human being at the same time he was the Lord God himself.
So what have these verses told you was different about your Savior Jesus Christ? He was a human being, a man, who was the Lord God. He was God in the flesh. Only about Jesus Christ can it be said, "This man is God," and, "God is this man." And that is how he was different from everyone else.
