Your Bible Lesson For The Day
How Did God Create The Human Race?
Like so many people, perhaps you have an interest in knowing about your ancestors and what they were like. What about your most ancient ancestors, the first human beings? Are you interested in knowing about them and what they were like? How did God create your most ancient ancestors, who were the first of the human race?
Genesis 1 says that after God created all the other creatures, he created his last creature, the crown of his creation – man, meaning the human race. And verse 27 tells you, “God created the man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.” This verse tells you that your most ancient ancestors, who were the first of the human race, were created by God in his image. God is a spirit, so his image was not a physical likeness but a spiritual likeness. And when God created the human race, he made it of two different sexes, the first male, Adam, and the first female, Eve. And as Matthew 10:28 says about all human beings, the first male and female were also made with a body and a soul.
Ephesians 4:24 gives you an insight into what the image and likeness of God was like that your most ancient ancestors had at the time of their creation. The verse describes that likeness of God as a “true righteousness and holiness.” And Colossians 3:10 clarifies that we Christians are now being renewed in the spiritual image that Adam and Eve possessed at their creation. That spiritual image consisted of a precise knowledge of God’s will.
And now you know what your most ancient ancestors were like when God created the human race. They were created with a body and a soul in the spiritual image and likeness of God that consisted of a true righteousness and holiness with a perfect knowledge of God’s holy will. Like everything else God created in the six days, they were perfect too.
