Your Bible Lesson For The Day
Does God Remain Active Today In The World?
No doubt you see policemen and firemen busy keeping your city safe. If you step into a school, you see the teachers busy in the classrooms. Wherever you look you see people busy doing this or that. But do you see God active in the world in which you live? As you look around in the world, do you wonder if God is there and working in it? Consider the following verses.
Hebrews 1:3 tells you that the Son of God “continues to uphold all things by his powerful word.” This verse says that the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ, is busy in the world. How? He continues to sustain and preserve all things in his creation by his almighty word. Our Lord Jesus is the one who is holding this whole universe together and keeping its natural forces in operation, whether it is the rising and setting of the sun, or the changing of the seasons, or whatever physical laws of nature you might mention.
Matthew 4:4 teaches you, “MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON THE BASIS OF BREAD ALONE, BUT ON THE BASIS OF EVERY WORD PROCEEDING OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.” You live, not because of the food you eat, but because God is busy in your life keeping you alive. God continues saying that you should live and have life; otherwise, you would die.
Isaiah 44:24 tells you, “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb, . . .” Another way God remains active in your world is creating the people of the earth through the natural procreation, or reproduction, of their parents. This is how you came about also; God created you through your parents.
Psalm 145:15,16 says, “The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at its proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing." God is also active in your world providing you, as well as all of his creatures, with the food that you need to live.
Psalm 91:10,11 states, “No evil will befall you, No calamity will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.” God is active in your life as a believer in Jesus by keeping you safe from harm and danger. He has his guardian angels watching over you at all times.
And Romans 8:28 teaches you, “And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.” God continues to be active in your life as a believer in Jesus by making all things, including the bad things that happen to you, work for your good somehow in the end.
So, does God remain active today in the world in which you live? Yes, indeed! He sustains everything in this world that he created. He creates all people through the natural reproduction of their parents. He provides you and all his creatures with the food and necessities of life. He protects his believers in Jesus like you from harm and danger, and makes all things work for your good.
