Your Bible Lesson For The Day
What Revealed The Savior Jesus Christ Is Truly God?
You can tell what a person is by what he does, correct? If you see a woman who treats ill patients, you know she is a doctor. If you see a man who fixes teeth, you know he is a dentist. If you see a man who fights fires, you know he is a fireman. In the same way you can know who the Savior Jesus Christ is from what he was like and what he did.
1 John 1:1,2 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was face to face with God, and the Word was God." This verse reveals that Christ was present at the beginning of creation. That tells you he is eternal, which is a characteristic only God has.
Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Christ is unchanging and always the same, which is also a characteristic that only God has.
Jesus Christ tells you in Matthew 28:20, "Behold, I am with you always until the end of the age." Since Christ will always be with each of us believers, he is everywhere present (omnipresent), which is a further characteristic that only God has.
As an eyewitness Peter said to Jesus in John 21:17, "Lord, you know all things." Christ knows everything, which means he is omniscient, and which is an additional characteristic that only God has.
Before ascending into heaven the resurrected Jesus told his disciples, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth." Christ has all authority, which means he is all powerful (omnipotent), and which is also a characteristic that only God has.
John 1:3 tells you, "Through him all things were made, and without him not even one thing was made that has been made." Christ created all things, which was a divine work that only God did.
Hebrews 1:3 states that Jesus the Son of God, "continues to uphold all things by his powerful word." Christ preserves, or keeps, all things in his creation, which is also a divine work that only God does.
Mark 2:10 tells you, "The Son of Man has authority to forgive sins on the earth." Jesus Christ has the authority to forgive sins, which is an additional divine work that only God can do.
In John 5:27 Jesus says, "(The Father) has granted him authority to carry out judgment, because he is the Son of Man." Jesus Christ will judge all people, which is indeed a divine work God will do.
And in John 5:22,23 Jesus says, "For not even the Father judges anyone, but has given all judgment to the Son, in order that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him." Christ is to be honored and worshipped just as God the Father is honored and worshipped.
So what revealed Jesus Christ the Savior is truly God? He possessed divine characteristics and performed divine works that only God has and does.
