What Blessings Are Received Through Justification By Faith?
It has been said that we live in a “Me Generation”. Are we also always on the lookout for what something has in it for us? Whether we are or not, we will still want to know what justification by faith has in it for us. Look at the following passages.
Romans 5:9 tells us, “Therefore, having been declared righteous now in his blood, so much the more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him.” “Declared righteous” is another translation for the Greek word that means “justified”. So what does justification by faith have in it for us? We are saved from God’s wrath and punishment. We are blessed with salvation from hell.
Romans 5:1 says, “Because we have been declared righteous as a result of faith, we keep on having peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” What does justification by faith have in it for us? We have peace with God. He is not angry with us anymore because of our sins.
And Ephesians 2:19 says, “You are no longer strangers and aliens; on the contrary, you are fellow citizens of the saints and members of the household of God.” So having been justified by faith in Jesus, what are we? We are God’s people and the members of his family.
In Luke 23:43 Jesus tells us like he told the criminal on the cross next to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” So what is another blessing we have through justification by faith in Jesus? Eternal life in heaven.
And now we know what blessings justification by faith has for us. Salvation from God’s wrath and punishment. God’s peace. Being God’s people and members of his family. Eternal life in heaven. Being the recipients of all these blessings that God gives to us through our being justified by faith in Jesus, let us give thanks to the Lord, for he is indeed good!
